Puffins are my favourite, favourite bird – so cute and so funny to watch. They just lift your spirits whenever you see then. Yesterday we decided to have a wee trip to visit them on the Isle of May. The island is on the East coast of Scotland – easy to reach from Glasgow. We took the ferry from Anstruther and had a wonderful afternoon watching the puffins on the island.
Of course there is a lot more to see on the beautiful Isle of May than just puffins …
And lots of razorbills… another of my favourite birds.
And lots, lots, lots more …. We were sad to have to leave the island at the end of the afternoon. There’s something very therapeutic and captivating about watching birds going about their business, as if the rest of the world didn’t exist. I thoroughly recommend a visit to the Isle of May – but if you want to catch the puffins, you’d better be quick. They only come to the island to nest and will be leaving very soon …
